After receiving the tip, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, investigators identified the resident as Zachary Bartolo, 23, of 1177 Post Road East, said the Westport Police.
Investigators learned Bartolo had received several packages over the last few months. One of Bartolo’s packages was intercepted and found to contain approximately one ounce of cocaine. Detectives applied for a search warrant for his residence, along with an arrest warrant for Bartolo, both of which were later approved.
On Monday, March 4, investigators executed a search warrant on Bartolo’s residence. Upon their arrival, Bartolo was in his vehicle. He was taken into custody on the outstanding arrest warrant.
Mail packaging, cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were located inside his vehicle. Investigators then conducted a search of his apartment, which revealed marijuana, Xanax, Adderall, Viagra, oxycodone, ecstasy pills, cocaine, packaging and sale materials, and additional drug paraphernalia.
In all, investigators seized a total of approximately 1.3 lbs. of marijuana, approximately 4 ounces of cocaine and over $1,000 cash, police said.
Bartolo was charged with criminal attempt to possession with intent to sell on the outstanding warrant, sale of hallucinogen/narcotic, the sale of a controlled substance, the operation of a drug factory, unauthorized manufacture and sale of drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was released after posting $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court on March 18.
